Walk the interior first. Note active drips, wet ceilings, and any smell of electrical burning. Move furniture and valuables away from leaks.
Document everything for insurance
Take clear photos of the yard, the roof from the ground, and any interior damage. Capture missing shingles, dented vents, and debris. Timestamped phone photos are fine.
Write down when the storm hit and what you noticed. That short note helps your adjuster and your contractor later.
Stop further water damage
